This is the first painting in the Romance Series.
The paintings hint at romance, intimacy and a
particular way of life or life style. I start with
special colors and design the backgrounds to fit
the mood of the subject. The ideas burst from
there! I find a never-ending source of ideas,
emotions and excitement during the creation of

This is a painting of my friend Michael. I found
him to be the strongest yet gentlest man I know.
His life and love is in the Sonora Desert. He has
a deep understanding of natural habitat, animals,
wildlife and motorcycles. I have yet to see more
work and detail in other bikes that he puts into
his motorcycles. It is even a challenge to paint

"The reference for this painting was
captured during my trip to South Dakota where I
photographed the Sioux and other tribes. In
painting this particular painting, I changed my
traditional palette of using cool colors in the
shadows and warm colors in the sunlight to using
warm colors in the shadows and cool colors of
yellow in the sunlight. This gave the glow I was
striving to accomplish.
