The Indians of the Southwest were the first to obtain the horse, some considered it sacred. Here I painted a young Navaho girl with her horse, her most prized possession. She is also wearing the traditional silver jewelry of the Navaho, that today is very popular and worn by many that are not of Navaho decent because of its beauty and traditional designs.—Barbara Sullivan
