The Indians of the Southwest were the first to obtain the
horse, some considered it sacred. Here I painted a young
Navaho girl with her horse, her most prized possession. She
is also wearing the traditional silver jewelry of the
Navaho, that today is very popular and worn by many that
are not of Navaho decent because of its beauty and
